About Johns Creek Veterans Assn (JCVA)

In 2012, a native Georgian, Retired U.S. Marine Corp Maj. General and Medal of Honor Recipient, James Livingston and Johns Creek City Manager, John Kachmar, also a veteran, had a plan. They wanted to create an organization to support their fellow veterans, educate the community of our Nation’s military engagements and provide a social atmosphere for veterans to gather, so The Johns Creek Veterans Association was formed.

Please enjoy the brief video history of the organization. Then, make plans to visit the sprawling grounds of many marble monuments, memorializing each conflict.

The Johns Creek Veterans Association (JCVA) invites qualified active duty service members, those serving in the National Guard or Reserve components, and veterans of any branch of the U.S. military who reside in Johns Creek or adjacent municipalities to join the JCVA, a non-profit organization.

As determined by its membership, the JCVA provides events, programs, and activities tailored to the interests of veterans. Although based at Park Place in Newtown Park, the JCVA is an independent entity, run by its members, that enjoys a great deal of support and collaboration with the City of Johns Creek.

One of the most significant recent accomplishments of the Association is the planning, design, fundraising and completion of the Johns Creek Veterans Memorial Walk. This privately funded five and a half acre contemplative memorial walk was constructed on lands donated for that purpose by the City to the JCVA and is the second largest privately funded memorial of its kind in the United States. In slightly more than two years from groundbreaking to turning the operation and management of the park over to the City, the members of the JCVA played a pivotal role in bringing this Memorial Walk to life.

We would not have these opportunities if it weren’t for these 18, 19, 20 and 21 year olds who stood up, stuck their hands in the air and said ‘I do! I want to serve my country!’  – Maj. Gen. James Livingston

Donations Help Our Community

There remains much to do in alleviating veteran homelessness, providing access to quality healthcare for both veterans and their family members in need, and assisting veterans in finding meaningful employment opportunities. JCVA’s ongoing plans also call for developing an annual scholarship program for rising high school junior and seniors based upon an essay competition that fosters an appreciation for topical themes related to civics, American History, patriotism, and Founding Principles.

Our dues alone are not sufficient to enable us to meet these demands, so we need your help! Please give generously.
